But who is Kathy Reynaud-Trujillo ? She is a « francesita », a polyglot and lover of languages, who can’t resist a good dinner with friends, a great book, a Saturday at the beach, or a fun salsa. She is constantly seeking to help, and to keep questioning herself in order to move further ahead, to learn, and to constantly grow as a person.
She started to work as a Spanish teacher in Vendée and then in Paris, but the grey skies pushed her to change her life, and in 2010 she began her adventure in the Dominican Republic, where she began as a CNED/French teacher with a French family in Cabarete.
She then worked as a teacher at the DREAM Project for more than 3 years, going from developing the library to coordinating education programs, including teaching reading, writing, and literature to children and adolescents.
She then rejoined her mother’s family in Portugal, where she worked as a language teacher and a translator and interpretor at the Setubal Court, near Lisbon.
Later, she rejoined the French National Education program for three years, but always had one foot in the Dominican Republic, her second home.
In 2020, Kathy returned to Cabarete, with her husband Isaac Trujillo (Director of Cabarete Language Institute) and her son Sáori. Seeing the absence of a French school in the region, they decided that it was time to respond to the demand of French families and they created a bilingual elementary school allowing for 100% French, Spanish and English education with native speaking teachers, degrees, and a love for learning. And so begins the European School DR!
